António Torres Marques

António Torres Marques was born in Porto, Portugal, on September 12, 1950.
He has graduated in Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto in 1972, has a Master’s Degree in Polymers (1977) and a Doctorate (1981) in Composite Materials from the Cranfield Institute of Technology (UK). He has, since 2001, the title of Aggregate of FEUP, where he is, since February 2002, Full Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEMec). He was President of the Board of INEGI between April 1997-April 2000. He was Director of DEMec between March 2006 and July 2014.
His areas of interest, in research and teaching, are Polymers and Composites of Polymeric Matrix, Biomechanics, Occupational Health and Safety. He was responsible for several R&D projects, in particular with the industry. He is co-author of 3 patents and has published 320 more articles in International Conferences, 75 in National Conferences, 140 in International Scientific Journals and 30 in National Scientific Journals. He also co-authored 12 book chapters and was co-editor of 3 publications.
He was President of the Portuguese Society of Materials from 1989 – 1991.
