ABOUT THE EVENT
AuxDefense2026 — 5th World Conference on Advanced Materials for Defense is sponsored by the Portuguese Ministry of National Defense, organized by the University of Minho, Fibrenamics and Sciencentris, and it’s focused on the latest scientific and technical novelties in advanced materials for Defense, including air, sea, land and space applications.
The conference will bring together various universities, researchers, technological centers, companies, and all of the entities interested in innovative solutions for this very high-demanding field. The conference also aims to be a place that promotes the exchange of ideas, the presentation of the latest developments and trends, the proposal of new solutions, and, ultimately promote international collaborations.
Grants for Young Researchers
Five grants are available for Ph.D. students to attend AuxDefense 2026 with free registration.
Expressions of interest should be sent to secretariat@auxdefense.pt, after abstract submission, along with the Ph.D. student certificate.
Venue – Funchal
The AuxDefense Conference will occur on July 1, 2, and 3 of 2026, at VidaMar Resort Hotel (Onsite), in Funchal, a city located on a large slope facing the Atlantic and shaped like a natural amphitheatre.
For this edition, the interaction between academia and industry will be highly enhanced with specific sessions and activities, beyond the scientific program, oriented for this purpose, including Industry Sessions, an Exhibition of Innovative Solutions, and Discussion Roundtables.
Like in the previous editions that occurred in Braga (2024), Guimarães (2022), Online (2020), and Lisbon (2018), the AuxDefense Conference will gather together various universities, researchers, technological centers, companies, and all of the entities interested in innovative solutions for this very high-demanding field. The conference also aims to be a place that promotes the exchange of ideas, the presentation of the latest developments and trends, the proposal of new solutions, and, ultimately, international collaborations.
